Hello, Dallas/Fort Worth!

You know the saying, “You never know what you have until it’s gone”? Well, it is certainly true. In researching my home town (D/FW, but more specifically, Irving) for this internship, I have found so many neat events, organizations, programs, etc. Oftentimes, when you live somewhere, you may not be aware of all it truly has to offer. For example, did you know that, just in the month of July, there is a KidsArts/Kids’ Work exhibit, The Neverending Story at Dallas Children’s Theater, Petzapalooza at the library, Texas Rangers games, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, the Dallas Boat Show, and Aerosmith (to name a few)?!

Another great event that will be coming to Dallas/Fort Worth on May 2, 2010 is Lemonade Day! This will be a city-wide event where children register for FREE to receive a nifty back pack full of materials that teach them how to start, own, and operate a lemonade stand on Lemonade Day. They get a chance to make some real money and even give back to the community if they choose. It will take the help of everyone in Dallas/Fort Worth, whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or simply buying lemonade, to make Lemonade Day a huge success. Please check out LemonadeDay.org to learn more and see how you can get involved.

It’s just too bad I didn’t know about or take advantage of all the opportunities D/FW had to offer when I was a resident. Don’t let this happen to you!
